How Totem works
Tap your phone against Totem to freeze all your distracting apps. Tap Totem again to unblock them. Totem has to be physically present to unblock your apps. Put Totem in another room, so your distracting apps stay blocked until you walk back to that room. Unlike any other blocker, it can only be unblocked physically.

How is Totem different from Apple's Screen Time or Android Digital Wellbeing?
Screen Time and Digital Wellbeing are easy to get around. One tap on the 'ignore' button and you're distracted again. Totem is a physical device you can leave in another room, which makes unblocking your apps a much bigger hurdle.
Can't I just delete my social media apps?
Experience shows they're just as easy to reinstall. Here too, the barrier is too low to keep you from getting distracted.
